The Subconscious Material

This audio-visual work aims to explore the role of our mind in relation to the construction of new realities, and therefore, fictional work. The work investigates people’s mental images and their different perceptions of the same research exercise based on drawings of their personal experiences. Through this investigation, I was able to interpret another space and time of people’s personal memory and turn it into a material body, a character of sorts. Using copper wire sculptures, The Subconscious Material explores two material worlds: the physical - our human relationship with these sculptures (conscious) and the subconscious - the shadows cast of these materials in this new reality.
